Updated DECAMS Isolation Durations

SCDF has issued a new directive regarding DECAMS isolation durations for all premises with fire alarm systems connected to SCDF via an alarm monitoring service. These changes took effect on 16 October 2025. Please take note of the following key requirements:

Weekdays (0800 hrs – 1800 hrs)

Maximum isolation duration: 4 hours per block
All isolations must end by 1800 hrs, regardless of start time

Weekdays after 1800 hrs, Weekends & Public Holidays

Maximum isolation duration: 2 hours per block

IMPORTANT — Clause 5: Extension Requests

If your maintenance work requires more time than the allowed isolation duration:

You must request an extension IN ADVANCE from the alarm monitoring service provider. For site-specific isolation procedures or clarification on monitoring protocols, please refer to your appointed DECAM operator or alarm monitoring service provider directly.
If no extension is requested by the time the isolation period ends, DECAMS will automatically cease the isolation.

Post-Isolation Protocol

Upon expiry of the isolation block, the system reverts to Live Status:

Signal Transmission: All alarm activations will be transmitted to the SCDF as required by the Fire Code.
Operator Obligation: Once the system is live, the monitoring provider is obligated to process all signals as genuine fire incidents.
Site Coordination: For specific verification protocols or SOPs, please consult your appointed DECAM operator.

Precaution: Ensure all works are completed and the system is normalised before the isolation period ends to prevent accidental alarm transmission. This applies even if maintenance is still ongoing.

What You Should Do

Plan maintenance works within the new isolation time blocks
Ensure relevant personnel are informed
Request time extensions before the original isolation period ends
Ensure your team is aware that SCDF will receive the alarm signal directly after 1800 hrs if isolation has expired
